How to Investigate criminal case?

Investigation is a continuous process. It means to collect information or evidence to proof an incident or a matter. But in broad sense investigation means to collect extract the truth by free mind. To be a good investigator there is no hard and fast rule that has to follow. But in current time investigation is very much depends over science and technology. One conclusive physical evidence is better than thousands oral evidence and one physical evidence is enough to prove a case without any oral evidence.
Be a human being a person could tell a lie or hide something that supposed to go against him/her. But science and technology never tell a lie. Mistake or error may occur but not spontaneously. So as a good investigator you have to apply science and technology where it is applicable to boost your stance to proof or prosecute a matter. Where and how you have to apply or took help it depends on the nature of your investigation. Such as are you investigating a civil matter or a criminal offence? For an instance if it is a case of homicide you have to visit place of occurrence as fast as you can. Cordoned the crime scene by yellow tape or any type you have. Try to collect physical evidence specially left by the criminals. Criminals are used to leave some physical evidence with their knowledge and sometimes without knowledge. It could be a knife, a piece of paper, wallet, empty cigarettes box, lighter, piece of clothes etc. All the physical evidence is consider as visiting cards of the criminals.

            Apart from that you have to collect information about deceased. Such as his habit, life style, friends and family member, where he goes, his/her character and habit, property and dispute with whom. Was he polite or arrogant, his /her conjugal life, beneficiary of his death, social and political status addicted or alcoholic etc best friend and friends. Why and how he had gone the place were he executed? Is there any eyewitness? Is there any footprint or fingerprint? Was the place calm and quiet? Who are the suspects? Modus operandy ( process or act of committing offence)  of the suspects.  Do the suspects know the place of occurrence? How many possibly entrance and exit point of the crime scene?

During investigation it’s better to investigate a case by a team. When you work with a team different idea will come from another member and that idea could be a vital point of that case. Different people have different idea. You are going towards a way to identify the real criminals but that way could be wrong another idea could fetch perfect and tremendous result. If you consider the above process then you could get a fruitful result about investigation a criminal case.
